Our client in the construction equipment rental industry is seeking
an experienced Director of Sales and Marketing.
TheDirector of Sales and Marketing's key responsibilities will be
planning anddirecting the sales activities of the organization. In
addition to coaching andtraining sales team members, this role is
responsible for maximizing potentialrevenue specific product
segments, territories or target markets.
Due to thedemanding nature of the job, frequent travel will be
required to meet withsales staff, managers, potential clients,
customers, partners, dealers anddistributors. The overarching goal
will be to facilitate thesuccessful achievement of revenue targets
by selling productsand services to clients throughout a
multi-regional branch network and salesteam.
TheDirector of Sales and Marketing works closely with the sales
staff, marketingstaff and branch managers to carry out strategies
and goals that support thecompany mission and vision. This role is
responsible for fostering anopen and collaborative sales culture
that promotes success by using positivereinforcement and
acknowledgement.
TheDirector of Sales and Marketing is tasked with growing the
business, providingsupport mechanisms to build strong teams, and
attracting and retaining talent,as well as providing the direct
leadership necessary to achieve short term andlong term objectives.
In addition the Director of Sales and Marketing isresponsible for
leading, directing, and controlling the Company's tactical
andstrategic revenue initiatives, providing thought leadership for
branch SalesTeams, and analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness
of sales, methods, costs,and results, for achieving targeted sales
volume. This isaccomplished by providing leadership and
coordination for the Company's salesfunctions and strategies. This
includes the monitoring, analyzing, directing,and adjusting of
sales activities to meet prescribed goals.
Responsibilities
- Manages, either directly or indirectly, all sales and marketing
employees and departments.
- Assumes overall accountability for implementing an effective
sales and marketing organization, meeting company revenue and sales
goals with budgeted resources.
- Counsels, trains and guides indirect reports to drive tactical
plans down through the organization in order to achieve sales
goals. Assists Regional Managers and Branch Managers with
recruiting, hiring, setting goals, and monitoring performance of
sales representatives. Ensures that the desired standards of
consistency, fairness and honesty are adhered to in all personnel
situations.
- Understands and maintains current knowledge of the company's
products, services, features, benefits and applications for
services and systems. Stays informed on competitive services,
promotional approaches, sales techniques, pricing and marketing
policies.
- Utilizes resources and performs research to determine sales
patterns and strategies.
- Motivates sales teams to develop new business. Identifies and
provides formal and informal training delivery in applicable areas,
including: time management, prospecting, qualification, selling
skills, sales strategy, product knowledge, and proposal
writing.
- Promotes and reaffirms company image in the field through ad
hoc events, associations and through incorporating image into sales
effort.
- Plans and coordinates social media, and communication efforts,
to include public relations and community outreach as well as
represent the company at various community and/or business meetings
to promote the company.
- Provides the direct and indirect leadership necessary to
achieve short term and long term objectives.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Business Management or Marketing or related
field of study, an MBA preferable.
- Must have a minimum of 10 years of direct leadership
responsibility managing a distributed sales team and/or
multi-locations.
- Must have industry experience that is construction oriented.
Familiarity with fleet, rental type of industry is preferred.
- Proven track record of developing and driving sales teams
towards achieving revenue objectives.
- Excellent time management skills coupled with the ability to
coordinate and prioritize a variety of projects while marshaling
the resources necessary to accomplish them.
- High levels of resourcefulness, influence and organizational
savvy, as well as executive presence/impact. Must have
unquestionable business and personal integrity and ethical
standards.
- Strong quantitative analysis skills and the ability to be able
to translate business strategy into pragmatic action plans and
through execution obtaining cost effectiveness.
- Ability to identify emerging shifts in the business environment
and access the economic implications through competitive analysis
coupled with the ability to make sound suggestions or
recommendations to maintain competitive in the market.
- Demonstrated ability to interact as a leader in a team-building
environment with a wide variety of individuals from diverse
disciplines, cultures and experience.
- Results-oriented and inclusive management style, coupled with
the leadership skills necessary to lead by example, empower and
motivate reporting staff toward full development of their
individual potential within an entrepreneurial and customer service
oriented environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills
with the ability to effectively present information and respond to
questions from individuals and/or groups both within the
organization or while representing the organization.
- Able to work extended hours, frequently in excess of 40 hours
