Summary of Job: Lays out, assembles, installs all areas of
residential and commercial HVAC installations including any
ductwork, setting, and starting up split and package systems. Gas
piping, venting and electrical as well. Realistic Job Preview: You
will start early. The majority of our installations have a 7 AM
onsite start time. Most installs will finish the same day. Most
days will have you home for dinner, some days may be earlier, and
some days may be later depending on the install. Average hours are
40-50 per week, reaching 50-60 per week in the busy seasons. We
don’t work scheduled weekends or on-call, be we are committed to
serving our customers deeply throughout the work week. You will
have an apprentice assigned to the majority of the work you
perform. As a lead, you will be required to plan and supervise the
work of any apprentice assigned to you. You will be responsible for
the work and on-the-job training of the apprentice(s) assigned to
you. You will install various types or residential and commercial
HVAC equipment Residential changeouts/remodels – 95% Commercial
changeouts – 5% (but growing) Residential installs would include
package units, heat pumps, split systems, mini-splits, humidifiers,
dehumidifiers, geothermal, air filtration, duct cleanings, and even
some occasional boiler work. Commercial installs would include
RTU’s, split systems, mini-splits, water-sourced units, air
filtration, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers. Ductwork – you will
perform/lead partial, full, and full-cut duct jobs, either as a
part of an equipment install, or as a part of a duct-only job.
Attics and crawl spaces – we have those! Attics can be tight and
hot, and crawl spaces cramped and cool – these can make for a tough
day at work. You will be required to stay in communication with the
Project Manager that sold the job, updating them on any potential
issues, concerns, or improvements to the install that you
recommend. You will be required to stay in communication with your
manager and attend scheduled 1:1’s. We have the best field managers
in the industry – it will not be uncommon to have your manager work
alongside you on a job, particularly when you need help or there is
a training opportunity. As a lead, you will be responsible for most
on-site customer communications, including job updates throughout
the day. Additionally, we would ask that you be an ambassador for
all of the other products and services that we offer, to include
IAQ, plumbing, and electrical services. You will be required to
document and detail the work that was performed utilizing Service
Titan. This will include detailed notes, pictures, and videos. You
will be the gatekeeper for our installation standards. We guarantee
a premium install and expect that the work you perform, and lead,
meets these expectations. As a lead installer, you know that HVAC
can be slow at certain times of the year. When this occurs, we will
ask you to perform maintenance visits for our members and
potentially run service or recalls depending on volume - we will
even teach you how to install water heaters or perform more
detailed gas line work if that is something you are interested in!
Requirements 3 years of technical experience in the HVAC field;
some previous experience as a Lead Installer required Valid
driver’s license Universal EPA Certification All employees of
Hoffmann Brothers must consider safety as their primary job.
General knowledge of safe working practices and federal/state OSHA
requirements is required as applicable. Physical
Demands/Requirements: To adequately perform the duties of this job
the employee is regularly and routinely required to sit, stand,
walk, stoop, use hands to finger, handle controls; hear, and talk.
The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
The employee must be able to climb ladders, work in hot and cold
environments, and work in small crawl spaces. The employee must
regularly lift and/or move 80lbs and up. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust
focus. The work environment can vary depending on the season and
scope of work - employees are required to work outdoors throughout
the seasons. The work environment will subject employees to
continual interruptions and changing priorities. Effective,
consistent, and constant communication with customers, vendors,
