EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 5-year engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Responsible for Process Engineering and Die Shop employees to perform service functions within established timing, quality, and cost standards. Additional responsibilities include planning and budgeting, overall project management and customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process Engineering:

  • Supervises work activities to ensure that service functions or tasks meet or exceed all established quality requirements.
  • Directs all related personnel actions, including final selection, training, performance appraisal, discipline, and safety
  • Determines job priorities based on established schedules and makes daily assignments.
  • Interprets specifications and makes judgments about the acceptability of work that is in progress.
  • Implements departmental safety programs to ensure the safety of employees working in the area
  • Performs routine troubleshooting
  • Exercises considerable judgment in establishing job priorities for expedited orders
  • Responsible for Continuous Improvement Activities
  • Provides technical support to manufacturing plant regarding die related issues.
  • Assists Engineering with new products and the development of dies to manufacture new products
  • Identify and develop processes and equipment from concept through manufacturing
  • Prepare specifications and requirements for processes and equipment
  • Identify and purchase necessary materials and equipment to support product development and raw material projects
  • Prepare process work instructions and material requirements for process trials
  • Collect, analyze, and report pertinent process data, information, and observations

    Die Shop:

    • Responsible for all aspects of Die Operations including budgets, planning, new equipment recommendations and installation, project management and customer service
    • In cooperation with Director, Engineering develops strategic plans for Die Shop improvement and customer opportunities
    • Develops action plans for the installation of new Die Shop Equipment
    • Overall project manager for Die projects
    • Responsible for inventory management of drawing dies.
    • Responsible for inspection of dies as needed.

      SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

      • The supervisor must possess a high level of technical skill to assist subordinates in troubleshooting and problem solving
      • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
      • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
      • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

        COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

        • Working knowledge of EDM Wire and Sinker
        • Candidates must have experience using precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and CMM.
        • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
        • Knowledge of burn conditions related to various material types
        • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
        • Microsoft Office suite and Consolidated Order System (QAD)
