Job Description
Responsible for managing for assigned markets all services relating
to coding workflow, productivity and performance to ensure timely
and effective completion of coding and other coding projects as
identified by the organization.

Summary:
Responsible for managing for assigned markets all services relating
to coding workflow, productivity and performance to ensure timely
and effective completion of coding and other coding projects as
identified by the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the physician pro-fee coders responsible for coding for
assigned markets/coders.
- Facilitates the structure, process, oversight and
accountability of organizational coding to ensure accurate provider
coding as it relates to appropriate and compliant reimbursement of
health care services.
- Responsible for managing all services relating to coding
workflow, productivity and performance for assigned markets and
coders.
- Develops reasonable productivity measures for coding medical
records while balancing quality and timeliness.
- Monitors the coding staff to ensure the quality, productivity
and turnaround time meets the expectations of the department.
- Collaborate with and educate physicians and staff on coding and
documentation guidelines.
- Directs the overall day-to-day activities of the physician
coding department for assigned markets.
- Serves as a resource and liaison in the organization for all
coding related topics, issues and questions including department
managers, staff and physicians
- Remains current on all changes in legislative regulations that
impact coding, documentation and compliance.
- Disseminates changes in coding rules and monitors changes in
laws, regulations and policies that impact documentation,
reimbursement and coding.
- Contributes recommendations for department resources and
selection of educational material and tools to maintain the skills
of the coding staff.
- Reports compliance issues detected through coding and auditing
to the Senior Director of Physician Coding and Documentation
- Conduct performance evaluations, counsel employees in
performance improvement, conflict resolution and disciplinary
action.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and
procedures related to coding and compliance and actively support
operation and compliance objectives.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of provider information,
patient data, financial and billing information
- Assists with special projects as assigned by Leadership
Qualifications:
Required Education: High School Diploma and/or GED
Preferred Education: Degree in Nursing
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years experience working with physician offices
or clinics working with diagnostic and procedure coding and/or
medical billing
- Possess a vast knowledge of CPT, ICD AND HCPCS coding and
reimbursement issues for physician offices and clinics
- Extensive knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD coding, medical
terminology and the AMA's 1995 and 1997 Documentation Guidelines
Required License/Registration/Certification: CPC or CCS-P
Computer Skills Required:
- Experience in Google suite
- Experience with Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft
PowerPoint
