Job Description:

Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory.Reports to: Phlebotomy SupervisorLabels, processes and delivers specimens for testing.Drag Edit DeleteCollects ordered specimens from patients using age-appropriate techniques.Drag Edit DeleteMaintains scheduled and non-scheduled equipment maintenance and medical supplies.Drag Edit DeleteUtilize computer system for data entry and monitoring workflowDrag Edit DeleteAccurately registers patients using appropriate method and registration procedures.Drag Edit DeletePerforms routine department functions, such as answering the phone in an appropriate and timely manner, taking/delivering messages and transferring calls as needed, faxing and copying.Drag Edit DeleteStocks laboratory suppliesDrag Edit DeleteMaintains a clean and organized work environmentMinimum EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent - RequiredDrag Edit DeleteMinimum EducationGraduate of a Program in Discipline - PreferredFormal Phlebotomy program with a minimum of 40 hours of clinical experience/certification - PreferredDrag Edit DeleteRequired SkillsCertification:BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required within 30 days of hire, if not current upon hire.Drag Edit DeleteRequired SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
