Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Critical thinking skills EKG rhythm interpretation Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred Peripheral IV skills Experience with bipaps, high flow oxygen, and multiple oxygen delivery systems Experience with stroke and post cardiac catheterization care Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes Description: The unit is part of a facility with 34 beds in one area and 25 beds in another. The patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:5 during daytime shifts and from 1:5 to 1:6 during night shifts. When fully staffed, there are 3 technicians available for support in one area and 2 in the other. Equipment used on the unit includes bipaps, high flow oxygen, vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and various medication drips. Documentation is performed using a designated system. The scheduling requirement includes working every other weekend with a 3-shift-per-week commitment. Floating between different units may be necessary. Patient experience expectations include hourly rounding on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights. Staff is encouraged to utilize communication boards effectively. Certifications required for this role include BLS and ACLS. The uniform code mandates wearing black scrubs. The unit practices self-scheduling with a four-week schedule format. Travelers often choose to extend their assignments on this unit due to a supportive culture and teamwork. The unit values a family-like care environment.
