Job Description Job Description Description: JOB TITLE: Clinic Nurse REPORTS TO: Team Lead/Clinical Operations Manager FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt JOB OVERVIEW: Responsible for providing nursing care to the patient under the direction of a physician or physician extender. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Knowledge of medical practice and care · Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures · Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments · Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions with the clinical setting · Ability to assist in common office procedures · Ability to take and enter vital signs into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) · Ability to identify problems and seek appropriate guidance · Skill in developing and maintaining clinical quality assurance · Ability to maintain patient records while maintaining confidentiality · Ability to apply practice guidelines and protocols · Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers and public · Performs selected clinical and administrative duties, and assists physicians and providers as part of the clinical care team. · Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent medications changes and/or test results. · Reviews and reports lab results to physician for guidance. · Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and obtaining urinalysis and vital signs. Documents all information into EMR. · Conducts and documents monthly chronic care management encounters for enrolled patients. · Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms. · Performs phlebotomy and administers injections; processes and prepares labs for pickup; assists with EKG’s, office procedures as needed; and provides other patient care services as directed by the physicians and practice protocols. · Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment. · Executes and documents any orders from physicians or physician extenders under supervision of the Registered Nurse. · Assists with scheduling tests and treatments as needed. · Performs triage for patient calls for urgent appointments or interventions under direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and Physician. · Provides patient health counseling, education and instruction. · Must have reliable transportation · Maintain a current and valid driver’s license and auto insurance Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification/Licensure 1. Current licensure, valid in Tennessee 2. Current BLS certification Experience : Minimum 12 months of professional clinical experience preferred Skills :· Ability to take vital signs· Ability to perform and read urine test trips· Ability to interpret lab results to report to physician· Ability to use various type of equipment for examination and treatment procedures· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills· Ability to maintain quality control standards· Ability to identify problem and recommend solutions· Ability to read, write and communicate effectively orally and in writing· Knowledge of basic arithmetic· Basic computer skills Physical abilities: Sit or stand for extended periods of time; push, pull and reach; occasionally bend, sit, stoop and stretch Have full range of body motion Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculation Have a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriately Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds Occasionally relocate to other jobs or office locations Note: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job.
