At Performance Foodservice, a leading national food distributor, we're seeking a motivated and diligent Driver Apprentice in Training to join our Transportation & Logistics team. This role is designed to prepare individuals for a career in food service delivery, providing an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working alongside seasoned professionals. As an apprentice, you'll learn how to safely operate delivery vehicles, manage delivery schedules, and uphold our commitment to excellent customer service. Through structured training and on-the-job learning, you will develop the skills necessary to become a full-fledged driver, contributing significantly to the efficient distribution of over 150,000 food and related products nationwide. Assist with loading and unloading goods from the truck under the supervision of a mentor. Learn route planning and vehicle operation for safe and efficient delivery. Perform daily vehicle maintenance checks under guidance. Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies. Develop strong customer service skills through direct interaction with clients during deliveries. Track and report delivery statuses using designated software. Basic understanding of transportation and logistics principles. Strong geographical knowledge or ability to learn quickly. Ability to operate or learn how to operate various types of delivery vehicles. Good physical condition to load and unload goods. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Medical Insurance 401k Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a DOT physical and any other applicable testing. CDL permit or commitment to obtain one within a set timeframe as part of the training process.
