We are seeking a Human Resources Manager for a growing HR team for our Shared Services Division of Community Health Systems (CHS.)

Note: This position will alternate working remotely with being in the office and will need to report to the CHS Cane Ridge location in Antioch, TN for meetings and other business needs.

Community Health Systems (CHS) is one of the nation's leading operators of general acute care hospitals, with over 100 locations nationwide. Our Shared Services Division located in Antioch/Cane Ridge, TN is seeking a Human Resources Manager.

Summary: Plans, implements and coordinates the Human Resources functions at the direction of the HR Director and partnership with senior management. The HR Manager serves as an integral resource for all aspects of human resources management including: employee relations, salary and wage administration, regulatory compliance, benefit administration, recruitment and employee development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and administers various human resources plan and procedures for all company personnel
  • Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
  • Recommends, implements and annually updates the compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary
  • Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures
  • Manages recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers; writes job postings; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checking; extends job offers; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-path program and employee relations counseling; conducts exit interviews
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.
  • Evaluates reports, decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws
  • Perform staff reviews and prepare performance documents for direct reports
  • Other duties as assigned
    Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages the Human Resources Support Staff as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Knowledge/Abilities:
    • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
    • Attention to detail in composing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to speak effectively before groups and to employees of all different levels within the organization.
    • Ability to quickly establish productive and credible working relationships with employees and management
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
    • Strong customer-service skills and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with little or no supervision.
    • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
    • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
    • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
      Education and/or Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required; 7 years experience in the areas of Recruitment, Employee Relations, Compensation, Training and Development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
      • PHR or SHRM-CP (Required)
      • SPHR or SHRM-SCP (Preferred)
        Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, it is preferred that the candidate have knowledge of G-Suite (Google Sheets and Google Docs included), but proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel will also be acceptable. Experience with UltiPro HRIS, UltiPro Recruiting and Kronos is a plus.
