Mitsui USA Position Description Position Summary The Data
Engineer supports the Customer Experience: Data-Driven Management
(CX: DDM), Process Design & Development Team by designing,
building, and maintaining data pipelines and tables that enable
stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions. The engineer
will focus on developing and optimizing data tables in Snowflake
using SAP and other enterprise data sources, as well as enabling
analytics through Sigma and other data access tools. The role
requires strong collaboration with group companies and internal
stakeholders to understand business requirements, gather data
needs, and deliver reliable datasets that support enterprise
reporting and dashboard development. The Data Engineer will also
design, optimize, and maintain data models, ensure the quality and
security of data, and support performance, monitoring, and recovery
planning in cloud and on-premises environments. This position
reports to the Assistant Director, CX: DDM, Process Design &
Development Team. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Design,
build, and maintain data tables and pipelines in Snowflake. Develop
logical and physical data models to support analytics and business
intelligence use cases. Optimize SQL code, queries, and data
structures for performance and scalability. Extract, transform, and
load (ETL/ELT) data from SAP and other enterprise systems into
Snowflake. Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across
multiple sources. Implement best practices for data security,
masking, and access controls. Support both on-premises solutions
and Azure PaaS cloud-based environments. Partner with group
companies and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and
define data needs. Translate business requirements into technical
data solutions. Provide datasets to analysts and business teams for
dashboard and reporting development. Enable and support reporting
in Sigma by providing structured and validated datasets.
Collaborate with the Data Analyst to ensure Power BI dashboards are
built on high-quality, well-structured data sources. Implement
monitoring, debugging, and performance analysis for data pipelines.
Plan, design, and implement High Availability and Disaster Recovery
(HADR) solutions for Snowflake workloads. Document data processes,
pipelines, and system dependencies for ongoing maintenance and
support. Support the establishment of data management standards and
best practices. Perform other duties as assigned to support the
objectives of the CX: DDM, Process Design & Development Team.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience Knowledge
Areas: Strong knowledge of data architecture, modeling, and
integration practices. Familiarity with SAP data structures and
enterprise data management. Understanding of corporate data
governance and reporting practices. Technical / Communication
Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL (Snowflake experience
required). Experience with Sigma or similar query/reporting
platforms. Familiarity with Power BI and integration with Snowflake
datasets. Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline design.
Experience with Azure PaaS (or similar cloud services) for data
solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to
collaborate with business users across group companies. Experience:
Minimum two (2) years’ experience in data engineering or database
development. Hands-on experience with Snowflake required.
Experience integrating and modeling SAP data preferred. Experience
with Sigma or similar data access tools preferred. Experience with
cloud data solutions (Azure, AWS, or GCP) preferred.
