Were currently looking for a Senior Supplier Quality Development
Engineer to join our team in Franklin, TN.
SQDs job within APO Purchasing is to help secure a healthy
supply base that will support achievement of Nissans Quality KPIs.
To do this, SQD has the function to evaluate/qualify/improve
suppliers for new business development as well as monitor/improve
suppliers who have existing business. SQDs main focus for
evaluation and improvement is on the suppliers quality systems and
processes used at their manufacturing facilities. This opening is
for an engineer who, based on commodity assignment, will work with
various suppliers toward the accomplishment of Nissans quality
Job functions Include but are not limited to:
- Learn and become proficient in: Nissan/Renault ANPQP SQDs audit
methods (e.g. ASES/PESES/Supplier Health Check/etc.) SQDs supplier
improvement tools (best practices for identification & resolution
of systemic manufacturing process concerns)
- Has SQD responsibility based on vehicle commodity assignment,
thereby working with all existing and potential suppliers of those
commodities. For suppliers related to new model production,
- Evaluates candidate suppliers capability in meeting Nissan
North America quality targets. As needed, conducts on-site audits
of candidate suppliers quality systems at their indicated site of
part manufacture, per SQDs audit methods.
- After suppliers are confirmed for new model business, develops
quality improvement plans where needed to assure compliance with
all quality requirements and design specifications.
- Leads cross functional supplier and Nissan stakeholders in the
creation, execution and successful completion of improvement plans.
Validates improvement plan effectiveness via follow-up quality
system audits. For suppliers involved in current model production:
Takes responsibility for key supplier KPI improvement via
application of Nissan global SQD tools and the organization/leading
of cross-functional top management meetings between Nissan and the
- Supports mitigation of risk created by supplier manufacturing
site changes. Conducts all job functions with minimal guidance and
follow-up. Actively pursues additional learning and benchmarking
opportunities to understand industry best practices to assure part
- Knowledge of the automotive manufacturing processes involved in
one or more types of part fabrication, as well as a general
knowledge of Nissan ANPQP or AIAG APQP quality systems. 5 or more
years of directly related professional-level engineering
experience, preferably in process or manufacturing engineering and
quality engineering with shop floor and assembly exposure.
- Highly developed written skills which plainly capture technical
concerns and their resolution. Proficient verbal skills which can
be employed in leading / speaking in a variety of settings and to
all levels of management.
- Bachelors degree in a related Engineering discipline.
Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access. Above average
skills in analyzing data with ability to debug Queries and Macros.
Able to chart/graph analyzed data in a concise way for management
understanding and decision making
- Approximately 25 - 50%, day and overnight travel. Most travel
is to US, Canada, and Mexico regions. Occasional international
travel outside North America may be required (i.e. Japan).
