What you'll learn & achieve: The User Experience Designer guides the team through user-centered design activities, blending business & user goals to create the ideal user experience. A strong desire to contribute in all areas of UI is what sets you apart from others. The UX Designer documents this process and is responsible for the final information structure. Responsibilities: * UX Research * Discovers user's needs through user research (remote or local), using as appropriate ethnographic research, user interviews, questionnaires and user feedback. * Discover business needs working with product owners, stakeholders, and domain research * Balance user requirements against business requirements * Produce intermediate deliverables including Personas, Scenarios * Understand underlying reasons for feature requests and recommend alternative approaches to achieve the goals identified, as appropriate * Interaction Design * Design overall workflow and detailed components as required to support scenarios * Design information architecture, including navigation structure * Explain design decisions with reference to research findings * Interface Design * Produce low and high-fidelity mockups, sitemaps, data visualizations * Use appropriate design standards where such exist, and help define standards where none currently exist * Collaborate with * Product owners to guide design during specification phase, and to plan rollout of design changes * Development teams to understand technical limitations and support development decisions which impact design quality * Customer support to discover end-user issues * Clients to understand their needs more clearly * End users to understand how they do their work and how a system might fit into their environment * Post-implementation * Validate user interface using techniques including usability testing and carry out remedial design * General * Guide the product towards a coherent, consistent user experience * Contribute to the development of design standards * Help build UX awareness in non-UX members of the team * Champion UX and help the entire UI team achieve their goals. * Effectively sets priorities to work efficiently and manage one's time. What makes you a great fit: Qualifications BS or higher degree in interaction design, human factors engineering, visual design, graphic design, or a related field. * 2+ years working in user experience design. * Exceptional conceptual and visual design skills. * Highly organized, strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Capable of working within a team in a full development life cycle. * Experience with usability engineering in the medical and/or healthcare industry is a major plus * Well-versed in web standards such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as well as browser capabilities. * Extensive experience with JavaScript libraries/frameworks/platforms (e.g., jQuery, React, Node). * UL has COVID-19 protocols and policies in place to ensure the safety of our employees, customers and clients.
