Position Summary
The EMS Quality & Safety Officer is responsible for planning,
developing, and facilitating evaluation of the departments
business, clinical, and operational quality and safety. The Quality
& Safety Officer will use an evidenced-based framework and a
wide-variety of assessment tools to continuously evaluate each
aspect of the EMS systems performance and collaborate with the
training officers and system leaders to recommend, develop and
execute performance improvement methods, education and training
that maximize positive outcomes and safety. The Quality & Safety
Officer will model a safety-first culture, focused on delivering
best-in-class patient care and customer service as determined by
the policies, procedures, and standards of performance of
Williamson Medical Center, in accordance with State regulations and
accepted standards of care. The Quality & Safety Officer will
promote a supportive and encouraging work environment of continuous
improvement and professional growth for every team member. The
Quality & Safety Officer must be able to provide, model, teach,
guide, delegate, and manage direct patient care at the expert level
for situations and incidents of all types while maintaining a high
level of professionalism.
Position Requirements
Formal Education / Training:
Tennessee licensed Critical Care Paramedic required
BLS certification at time of employment
ACLS and PALS certifications within six months of employment
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) within six months of
employment
Valid Tennessee driver's license with "F" Endorsement; must be
insurable
Quality Improvement and Safety training preferred
EMS-related instructor credentials preferred
Associates degree preferred
EMS managerial and leadership experience preferred
Workplace Experience:
5 years' experience in 911 EMS position
2 years' experience leading Quality improvement, safety and EMS
instruction preferred
Equipment and Skills Training:
Employees will participate in orientation and on-going education
and in-service training for all types of learning; to include adult
learning, clinical care, critical thinking, customer service,
leadership, management, research, and resources used to effectively
and efficiently accomplish each in the EMS environment. Employees
are required to complete annual education and in-service training
for all types of medical, trauma and behavioral emergencies and
equipment used in all assessment, treatment and transportation of
patients.
Physical Environment:
Office, classroom, ambulance, and various facilities throughout the
county as needed.
Potentially high-risk environment. Duties are performed indoors and
outdoors in all weather conditions, disaster and mass casualty
incidents. Patients may present with any of an unlimited number of
diseases, illness, injuries, personalities and emotional states.
Environment includes operations of, and performing work functions
within emergency vehicles, including ambulances. Prolonged exposure
to temperature extremes may also be encountered.
Physical Effort:
Must be able to utilize devices for patient movement, including all
functions of ambulance stretcher, with 250-pound weight, with
partner. Must be able to walk, crawl, stand, sit, climb, stoop, run
and kneel to access patients. Must be able to carry patients and
equipment over varying distances, terrain and up or down stairs.
Must be able to carry the EKG monitor and jump bag unassisted.
